#7 Frogs or Goblins?
Stumbling through blender
I added a basic script that changes the level when you complete all goals. I will hook it up to a button later. Right now, it's time to open up Blender for the first time ever and see if I can make these capsules into people. My goal in this game jam was to finish a game and to learn something completely new. So I chose 3d modeling to learn.
As a total beginner in Blender, I followed this lovely tutorial to make a frog: Blender for Beginners: Easy Froggy! Although this tutorial is about a frog, I find that its shape is quite like the one I want to achieve. I just need to make sure I modify the design along the way a bit.
As you can see, it turned out great… Jenifer looks exactly like I intended. Just like a big goblin, or a Lemming. Just perfect.
Well. It might still need some work. But I don't have that kind of time so this will have to do. Now I will quickly make a boy version. Let's see how that looks
Okay, he's… okay… I'm actually not that disappointed with this model. I applied some noise to the hair to save some time on modeling, and I think it looks quite alright.
Now let's turn all these capsules into people and start making some more levels.
They don't look that bad in the right colors. I chose to allow the colors to be changed so that I don't have to make more models. By changing the color they look completely different, yet they use the same model. Each model can have a different color for the body, the shirt, pants and hair. This will save me a lot of valuable time.
Let's have lunch together!
Assign seats so everyone is happy!
